    We are always looking for catechists (step by step guidance provided).
    The Sunday 3 and 4 Year Old Class
    During the 9:30 am Mass, 3 and 4 year-olds meet in the children’s classroom and learn the most basic elements about our faith and are nurtured in their childlike spirituality.

    Grades K-5 FAMILY MODEL
    This is a wholistic model of sharing the faith for parents who seek to make concrete faith connections in every area of family life. There is a meeting for parents only on the first Sunday of the month from 8:30 am – 9:15 am. Families study and do projects together the other weeks of the month.
    GRADES K–5
    For this model we will use Loyola Press’ new 2021 version of Finding God texts and Venture flyers.
    Online Model
    While we strongly believe that in person study is the ideal, those who are not in the sacramental preparation year can take advantage of an online option if necessary.

    Sacramental Preparation
    Students must spend two years in the religious education program and be in at least the second grade to be eligible to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Parents attend two retreats with their children who also attend an opening session.

    Alive Middle School Youth Group has been designed to meet the educational, spiritual, emotional, and social needs of our Catholic middle schoolers (grades 6 – 8). As part of the Catholic Church’s mission to evangelize and spread the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, we would like to provide a more in-depth and personal opportunity for young people to grow in their faith. As part of our Middle School Curriculum we will be using Connect from St. Mary’s Press and Theology of the Body for Teens by Ascension Press throughout the year as teaching resources.

    CONFIRMATION 1 & 2
    Students will meet on Sunday evenings and we will be using the "Chosen" Confirmation Curriculum and "You" Theology of the Body Curriculum, both from Ascension Press to address the teaching of the truths of our faith and help foster a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ that is lived out in daily life.

    During our two year Confirmation preparation, our focus is to engage and empower the "first teachers" of the Faith - the parents - and engage the Confirmation candidates in a welcoming and community-minded way.
    We do the former by encouraging parents to complete the assigned Decision Point sessions (done at home) with their children, which fosters healthy, meaningful, deep and spiritual discussion within the family. We do the latter by creating welcoming environments, often facilitated by our high school leadership team, during each on campus session. We want all candidates to learn more about the Faith - sure! However, we want them to experience living in a community of Catholics, building authentic friendships, growing in faith together and experiencing Christ in each other.  That's what being Catholic is all about!

  • The RCIA is a process through which persons who wish to become fully initiated Catholics journey together towards full initiation and reception of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. This process is adapted for children and typically lasts for two years. The children are sent forth from Sunday Mass to study together and explore God’s Word as well as the teachings of the Church. The classes are interactive and fun. If you have a child seven or over who has not been baptized or was baptized in another Christian faith, please contact Patty Mann at 760.607.5014 or [email protected] to learn more about this process.
  • The RCIA is a process, not a program, through which teens and adults who wish to become fully initiated Catholics journey together towards full initiation and reception of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. Non-baptized persons as well as persons who have been previously baptized in another Christian faith are invited to explore the process.
    There are four periods in the process which typically lasts for one year, sometimes longer. The first period is called Inquiry and as the name implies, it is a time to ask questions and to discern whether you truly seek initiation into the Church.
    We welcome you to join the inquiry and no commitments are required and it's free!

About Safe Environment Training


Volunteers who will be working with the youth on a regular basis (teachers, chaperones/drivers, childcare) will need to apply for a background check online CmgConnect.org. Choose San Diego under the Find a Diocese dropdown list.
In 2005, the Diocese of San Diego established the Safe Environment program for our children's protection. The program has three components:
• a background check of all adults who have contact with children on a regular basis in church ministry,
• training for these adults in Diocesan policies and Child Protection Services, and
• ongoing training of children to protect themselves from compromising situations.

We have conducted background checks and training for every adult involved with religious education, Sunday programs (nursery and the preschool class during 9:30 am Mass), Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPs), and child care for the Women’s Christian Fellowship.

The training of children to avoid compromising situations (in grades 1-8) focuses upon the
No-Go-Tell poster.

This poster was developed by the Diocese of San Diego. Notice the poster is general in tone and does not focus on any specifics. The training for the students is also general in tone and does not point to any specific topic or person. The training is done annually in mid-October.

Reporting Sexual Abuse (Posted May 2020)
Sexual Abuse Compensation Program The Independent Victim Compensation Program (ICP), a program sponsored by the Diocese of San Diego to assist victim-survivors who were abused as minors by priests of this diocese, are accepting applications. The ICP is independent and not controlled by the Church. There is no time limit on when the abuse may have taken place. The program will consider all claims, regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred. No attorney is necessary and there are no fees of any kind. U.S. Residency is also not required.
