Students will meet on Sunday evenings and we will be using the following curriculum that addresses the teaching of the truths of our faith and fosters a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ that is lived out in daily life.

        

During our two-year Confirmation preparation, our focus is to engage and empower the “first teachers” of the Faith – the parents – and engage the Confirmation candidates in a welcoming and community-minded way.  We do the former by encouraging parents to maintain an active role in their teens’ formation. Ideally this will foster healthy, meaningful, deep and spiritual discussions within the family. We do the latter by creating welcoming environments, often facilitated by our high school leadership team, during each on campus session. We want all candidates to learn more about the Faith – sure! However, we want them to experience living in a community of Catholics, building authentic friendships, growing in faith together and experiencing Christ in each other. That’s what being Catholic is all about!

Why do I need to be confirmed?

In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. . . . We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service. About Safe Environment Training


Volunteers who will be working with the youth on a regular basis (teachers, chaperones/drivers, childcare) will need to apply for a background check online CmgConnect.org. Choose San Diego under the Find a Diocese dropdown list.
In 2005, the Diocese of San Diego established the Safe Environment program for our children's protection. The program has three components:
• a background check of all adults who have contact with children on a regular basis in church ministry,
• training for these adults in Diocesan policies and Child Protection Services, and
• ongoing training of children to protect themselves from compromising situations.

We have conducted background checks and training for every adult involved with religious education, Sunday programs (nursery and the preschool class during 9:30 am Mass), Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPs), and child care for the Women’s Christian Fellowship.

The training of children to avoid compromising situations (in grades 1-8) focuses upon the
No-Go-Tell poster.

This poster was developed by the Diocese of San Diego. Notice the poster is general in tone and does not focus on any specifics. The training for the students is also general in tone and does not point to any specific topic or person. The training is done annually in mid-October.

Reporting Sexual Abuse (Posted May 2020)
Sexual Abuse Compensation Program The Independent Victim Compensation Program (ICP), a program sponsored by the Diocese of San Diego to assist victim-survivors who were abused as minors by priests of this diocese, are accepting applications. The ICP is independent and not controlled by the Church. There is no time limit on when the abuse may have taken place. The program will consider all claims, regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred. No attorney is necessary and there are no fees of any kind. U.S. Residency is also not required.
