We welcome YOU to join one (or all!) of our volunteer trip/s to the orphanage. We have several projects planned that you can find on OFNO.org . You will need a passport (or birth certificate for kids), work clothes and water. Lunch will be provided. We meet at the lower parking lot of St. Elizabeth Seton at 7 am and leave the orphanage around 3 pm to head back home. If you cannot make the trip but would like to take part, your prayers are always needed and donations are always welcome.
Remember to bring a valid passport (picture ID and ORIGINAL birth certificate for those under 18 years) for re-entry to the US. Carpools are encouraged. If you will be driving across to the orphanage, it is required that all cars have liability insurance at a minimum (approx $15 per day). Check with your auto insurance company for assistance on acquiring coverage. AAA sells insurance and you may also purchase them before entering the Mexican border. Click here for more important details (directions, trip information etc.)
The orphanage is only 6 miles from the US border. Please bring water, hat and sunscreen. We start work immediately upon arrival and break for lunch (lunch sponsored by Knights of Columbus of Spring Valley). Depending on the number of volunteers we have signed up, we can have jobs done as early as 2 pm for departure at 3 pm. We’ve had 100 volunteers join us on previous trips! The wait at the border upon your return to San Diego (passport inspection) can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the line.
Please visit OFNO.org where you can learn more about how you can participate in this growing ministry and sign up for our trip/s! If you are unable to travel with us, we thank you in advance for your continued prayers for our safety and generosity that allows us to continue to purchase supplies for various work projects. God bless!
This is a great way for your family to spend time together in service for others. Students will earn 8 hours of community service.
